In 1956, Eugene Scherzinger identified the need for deep foundations to complete his poured concrete wall business. Thus, Scherzinger Drilling was started. At that time, drilled shaft equipment, although crude by modern standards, was chain and cable operated. But they got the job done. In about 5 short years, Scherzinger Drilling grew to over 5 rigs, drilling residential, commercial, and industrial foundations in Cincinnati and surrounding areas. Contracts included rock quarry drilling in Bloomington, Indiana. In the mid '70's, Eugene's son, Ken, took over the operation. In 1999, Ken moved the office and shop to its new location at 9629 State Route 128, Miamitown, Ohio, three miles north of I-74. The new 36,000 square foot facility situated on 11 acres, allows for complete rig maintenance, dispatching and custom tool fabrication. This facility is indispensable to produce over 500 completed projects and 200,000 lineal feet of drilled shafts per year.
